How does AMSOIL beat the competition?

If you’ve been on social media, you know that AMSOIL competitors campaign to show how their synthetic oils allows for extended intervals between oil changes.  10,000 miles, maybe 15,000, or lately even 20,000 miles has been the challenge.  It’s like they’ve finally caught up with realizing time is money.  And for people who use their vehicles a lot, an extended period between oil changes is worth the extra price.  It can get a bit confusing with deciphering terms like 5W-30 and other oil grades, so let’s simplify the whole picture.

AMSOIL Logo- 5W-30 Challenge

Mobil 1 Synthetic has been on a 20,000 road trip across America to prove their oil can run an extended period between oil changes.  While that seems technological breakthrough, it’s just the latest gimmick to catch up to AMSOIL.  AMSOIL has had a 25,000 mile oil change interval solution for over 15 years.  Obviously, AMSOIL’s oil performance surpasses Mobil 1’s breakthrough for 20,000 miles.  And AMSOIL pioneered it long before competitors’ latest claims on social media.

How AMSOIL Stays Ahead of the Competition: 5W-30

Staying ahead of the competition is an ever-evolving challenge.  Technology continually gets better over time.  With new technology comes innovation.  Any innovation that continually drives better performance must start with the best ingredients.  And AMSOIL starts with the purest synthetic materials to create the best 5W-30 synthetic oil on the market.

What started as a great idea 40 years ago continues to evolve.  AMSOIL stays ahead of the trends in the lubrication industry.  Synthetic oils don’t have the impurities that conventional oil contains.  Likewise, the uniform molecular structure of AMSOIL synthetic oils contributes to its ability to push boundaries that other conventional and synthetic oil competitors attempt to catch up to.

The Benefits of Running AMSOIL 5W30 Synthetic Oil

If you’re unfamiliar with synthetic oil, you may ask what makes it better or worth the extra cost.  Here are four reasons to go with an AMSOIL synthetic oil at your next oil change:

  • If you live in a climate that gets cold in the evenings or really cold in the winter, AMSOIL synthetic oil is 36% more fluid at colder temperatures than conventional oil.  That means your vital engine components that rely on the engine oil to stay lubricated are better protected and have less wear at start-up.
  • Engines run hotter than ever before to reduce emissions as the emission standards become stricter around the globe.   Some engines run as hot as 235 degrees Fahrenheit at normal condition.  They get hotter with heavy driving. That amount of heat breaks down conventional oil and jeopardizes your engine’s safety.  AMSOIL synthetic won’t breakdown under the heavy load.  Moreover, it stays 81% cleaner (five time more than conventional oil). Over time, breakdown of oil can cause sludge, deposits, and oxidation inside your engine.
  • Has your local oil change shop ever informed you you’re a quart (or more) low on engine oil?  Driving with a low oil level in your engine means you may not have enough to keep your vital engine components well-lubricated at all times.  AMSOIL synthetic has 38% less oil consumption compared to conventional oil.  You lose less over time, keeping your engine better-protected between oil changes and top-offs.
  • AMSOIL synthetic oil contains uniform molecules compared with a conventional oil that contains multiple sized molecules and unwanted materials like wax.  Those molecules and extra materials cause the engine to work harder to pump oil through the engine. The extra work creates heat and reduces fuel economy.  AMSOIL’s uniform molecules free up that extra power and gives that extra fuel economy back to you.

Options for Premium Performance

AMSOIL has three options for a 5W-30 synthetic oil depending on your needs and how to drive your vehicle:

  • OE Advanced – The OE oil series is a direct replacement for conventional oil that should be changed at the manufacturer’s recommendation.
  • XL Boosted – The XL Boosted oil can go 1 year or 12,000 miles between services and it has 25% more cleaning power than the OE Advanced series.
  • Signature Series – This is the best option if you plan to drive a lot in a year.  The Signature Series is rated for 1 year or up to 25,000 miles between oil changes, depending on the vehicle.  It has 50% more cleaning power than the OE Advanced series.  Likewise, it is ideal for engines with turbochargers or direct injection.

Don’t Forget the Filter

One thing that is not highlighted with the competitor’s high mileage oils is the filter.  Your oil filter protects your engine from the particulates caught in the oil from combustion and wear.  AMSOIL has long understood the benefits of quality filtration for your engine.  As the mileage increases between oil changes, the quality of the oil filter must change to increase the level of protection to your engine.  AMSOIL recommends a synthetic compatible oil filter for the XL Boosted product.  AMSOIL recommends the specially engineered AMSOIL EA Filter for the Signature Series 15,000 – 25,000 mile oil.  To learn more about AMSOIL oil filtration, visit https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/filters-and-by-pass-systems/.

With all the advertising and marketing on the internet and social media, you may be tempted to try another brand of oil.   But don’t be fooled by their claims for extended oil change periods.  Try AMSOIL instead of a competitor.  They have had the proven leading solution for years.  Likewise, they continue to be the trendsetter.  BuyGreatOil.com can help with what oil option makes the most sense for your driving habits.  Be safe out there!

5w-30 vs 5w-20: How is oil graded, and what do the numbers mean?

Motor Oil is graded by viscosity. To put it simply, oil is measured and graded by its resistance to flow.  In simple terms, this is a measure of how thick the oil is.  Motor oil is not a one-size-fits-all product.  Some oils do better in different temperatures than others.  Finding the best oil for your geographical location and vehicle is very important.

So, what do the numbers mean?  The higher the numbers, the thicker the oil.  When you see 5w-20 vs 5w-30, what are the real differences?  5w-30 is the most common type of oil.  Let’s break down the components to understand how the oil is graded and labeled.  The grade is broken into two parts – “5w”, and “30”. The “w” stands for “winter” in 5w.  Here’s the important part – a lot of motor oil these days are made to have different thickness in different temperatures.  5w, or 5 winter, is information on how thick 5w-30 is during cold temperatures.  The winter number is how thick the oil is at 0 degrees Celsius.  On the other hand, the second number, 30, is the viscosity of the oil at 100 degrees Celsius.

What Does the Thickness Number in 5W-30 Mean?

The 30 refers to the thickness during the hot temperatures.  Normally, liquids are very thick when they are cold, but very fast and thin while hot.  Oil has special additives in it that makes sure the opposite happens.  As the oil heats it, it actually becomes thicker, because thick oil is required to protect the engine when it is hot.  This means that 5w-20 and 5w-30 actually have the same thickness during the cold.  If you were comparing 10w-30 vs 5w-30, you’d want to use 5w-30 in colder temperatures, and 10w-30 where it does not get as cold.

Here’s the important part – the biggest differences in oil thickness matters with regular oil.  Synthetic Oils are actually created specifically to minimize this difference.  In other words, there is actually a smaller gap between 5w-30 and 5w-20 or 10w-30.  Knowing what oil works best in your area is important, as it keeps the engine working efficiently without grinding.  Likewise, it keeps your vehicle running well for longer!  Not sure which oil is perfect for you?  You can use the AMSOIL vehicle look-up to find products perfect for you, or just call BuyGreatOil.com!
